New Zealand, 1869 (Feb. 20) cover from Christchurch to Whitby, England (May 23), bearing 1864-67 perf. 12½ 3d lilac (S.G. 117) cancelled by barred numeral obliterator, the postage insufficient and the envelope endorsed in manuscript "Detained for postage", another 3d (variety with misperforation at right) applied to supplement original postage and similarly cancelled, the cover then posted on March 13 to England at the proper 6d rate, Very Fine and unusual held for postage cover.
