AN EXCEPTIONALLY ATTRACTIVE EXAMPLE OF THIS GREAT 20TH CENTURY RARITY.

Expertization: 1973 P.F. Certificate noting only the thin and 1997 P.F. Certificate.

Less than fifty examples of the Harding rotary press perforation 11 have been recorded. Although repaired and reperforated for aesthetic appeal, it is intriguing that this appears to have been the only straight-edge example in the Siegel census (Chicago Flight. Robert Zoellner sale catalogue, proof. 325) for a photograph of the stamp in its original unrestored state), while Gary Griffiths records only two straight-edge examples (
United States Stamps 1922-26, proof. 191), supporting his theory that the sheets were cut into four panes before being perforated by the machines employed for the flat press.
