5¢ Taylor (179), single, used with #178, and tied together by indistinct NYFM cancel (possibly GE-C2) on reverse of undated cover to Hamilton, Bermuda originally franked with single 3¢ green (158) tied by cork cancel of Bennington Centre, Vt., the cover marked "Short Paid" with box handstamp and manuscript "Due 7¢", with both crossed out in magenta pen, and matching note then added above 5¢ & 2¢: "Deficient Stamps affixed by Geo. J. Gregory Foreign Desk N.Y.P.O" in four lines in addition to a discreetly written "2 Rates" at upper left of cover's face, blue crayon "4" (d) due marking applied at Bermuda; 3¢ with small faults, 2¢ with corner nick, cover with small tear at bottom, still Fine, an important and very rare New York foreign mail usage (cover can be opened to display both sides).
