Newfoundland 1857, 6½d scarlet vermilion (7), dazzling color of exceptional red intensity, large to ample margins, cancelled by barred oval handstamp and tied by crisply struck large "Boston Br. Pkt. 5cts/Oct 21" c.d.s., showing "Carbonear/OC 10 1859" double arc origin d.s. adjacent and "St. Johns Newfoundland/OC 11 1859" double arc exchange d.s., the addressee's name was originally excised and has been superbly replaced and restored, otherwise Very Fine, a most handsome usage.
