New Britain, 1915, 3d Manus (Deutsch-Neuguinea) No. 899 registration label, serif letters, no stop after "I", eagle emblem (SG 43a), and Marshall Islands 1d on 3pf ("1" with straight top serif) to 3d on 3pf (no stop after "d") and 4d on 40pf to 8d on 80pf (# 50c-55e, 56-58) tied by "Rabaul, New Britain/ Jan 20 1915" oval d.s. in violet on local envelope, with "Kaiserl. Deutsche Postagentur" paper seal in blue on reverse, flap at back missing. Very Fine and an extraordinary usage. Illustrated in Gibbs, page 134.
