Baltimore, Md., red c.d.s. on 1810 folded letter to George Town, Del., red manuscript rate "10" altered to "12½" [Georgetown being just over the 90 mile limit of the 10¢ rate], black manuscript "Due 4½" apparently applied in Georgetown, Very Fine and early use of the word "Due" [possibly the earliest recorded]. The 4½¢ due makes up the 17¢ rate for distances of 150-300 but justification for such a rate is not apparent.
