Autograph Letter Signed as President, October 16, 1890, two pages on Presidential stationery, 3¾ x 6¼ signed "SC". To a friend. In French, untranslated. Neatly penned with clear signature, Very Fine.

The letter refers to the uncertainty concerning the political aspirations of Carnot's friend Émile François Loubet (1838-1929), seventh President of France from 1899-1906. In 1892 Carnot asked Loubet to form a new cabinet, in which he served as Prime Minister for approximately ten months.
