Philippines, 1943 Free Philippines Guerrilla Postal Service, 2c blue, tied by purple oval "Posted in the Free Philippines, Mindanao Guerilla Area, 25 Dec 1945, M.D. No. 10" on 2c entire (U41) from Capt. Jesus J. Montalvan to Don Andres Soriano, Insular Treasurer of the Philippines, Washington, D.C., matching "Tenth Military Dist." censor handstamp (not initialed), used with 2c Commonwealth ovpt (411) tied by Esperanza, Agusan duplex, also Christmas Day, additional matching patriotic handstamp "We depend upon MacArthur's pledge to return" and "By Officer Courier"; Very Fine. Only 500 stamps were issued and only about 36 covers have been recorded. Accompanied by a six-page article by Walter W. Adler on the history of the stamps from the Sept 1982 issue of The American Philatelist.

These stamps were printed in Brisbane, Australia in November of 1943 as part of General Douglas MacArthur's Black Ops program. They were supplied to Guerrilla forces on the island of Mindanao under the leadership of Colonel Wendell Fertig.

Captain Montalvan was Col. Fertig's Adjutant.
