Ireland, 1922 (Dec. 21) cover from Enniskillen to Boston Spa, bearing "Provisional Government of Ireland 1922" overprint 2d uncancelled with pencil notation "Not valid / Foreign Stamp", showing unframed "3d. to Pay/314" handstamp with Great Britain Postage Due 3d tied by arrival c.d.s., and 1923 (Mar. 20) cover from the Irish Free State to Belfast, Northern Ireland (Mar. 21) bearing "Irish Free State 1922" overprint 1d and Great Britain 1d, the former cancelled by departure c.d.s. and the latter uncancelled at origin but tied by arrival c.d.s. along with Great Britain Postage Due 1d which has been applied over handstruck "2" due marking, the British stamp had been demonetized in the Irish Free State and therefore was not accepted for postage but was credited toward payment of the double deficiency postage due of 2 pence.
