Prince Edward Island: 1871 (Nov. 17) 3¢ postal stationery envelope to Charlotte Town (Nov. 23), cancelled by "Richmond/Ind" duplex in blue, with unframed "10" and crayon "6d" notation adjacent, and bearing on reverse compund perf. 6d yellow green (S.G. 25) tied by "13" in barred oval, showing accompanying "Charlotte Town" c.d.s. adjacent, the 6d has minute split at foot between perfs., Extremely Fine and noteworthy usage, a great example of USA-Canada cross-border mail.

During this period the postal agreement between the USA and Prince Edwards Island required prepayment in full at 6d or 10c, partial payments were ignored and therefore this cover, though prepaid 3c was charged the full 6d.
