China, 1878 3ca brown red (3), cliché [21], rough perfs., with sheet margin at left, on 1879 cover to Shanghai, cancelled by light "Post Office/Chinkiang" double ring d.s. of "21 Mar 79", showing "Customs/Shanghai" c.d.s. (Mar. 22) in red adjacent and "Shanghae/Local Post/I" delivery c.d.s. of the same date in blue on reverse; though not tied this is from the famous Hall & Holtz correspondence and very similar to two other known marginal examples which also have rough perfs., rare cancellation, fewer than 10 covers recorded with this rare cancellation.
