South Africa, 1923 2d black & pale violet, imperforate, "POSTADE" variety (J14a, J14a var.), top left marginal block of six, stamp 5 in the block is the variety, Pos. R3/1. Wonderfully fresh and crisp, ample to large margins all around. O.g., two hinge remnants in the selvedge only, the stamps are never hinged. Very Fine. Only a few imperforate examples of this variety can exist. SG D14a, D143a var.
