1869, 30¢ ultramarine & carmine, flags inverted (121b), unusually strong colors and fine impression on fresh paper. Neat circle-of-wedges cancel. A Very Fine and choice example of this invert rarity.

The 30¢ 1869 is the rarest of the non revenue inverts withless than 40 used examples estimated to exist. As with the other 1869 inverts, most of these are faulty. The example offered here, with its excellent centering and color, and its complete freedom from faults and repairs is among the five or six best examples of this popular and important error.
