1851, 1¢ blue, type II (7), horizontal strip of three, ample to large margins, rich Plate 1 Early color, canceled by bold pen squiggles on cover to Sanbornton Bridge, N.H., ms. "Poolesville Md/ December 27th 1851" in box at top left, additional "5 undercharged" written below strip and just tying it, lengthy original contents signed "Crazy Ned" which mentions trip to Washington, attending sermon with Pres. Fillmore in the audience, seeing "102 ft. of the intended Washington Monument" etc.; cover with some wear, strip with light gum wrinkles in left pair, still Very Fine, attractive and scarce small town usage.
