1852, 1¢ blue, type IV (9), three singles, each ample to large margins, each in a different shade, tied by two strikes of large "Paid" in grid on white envelope to Maine, red "Boston Mass. 31 May" c.d.s., Extremely Fine, a remarkable 1c 1851 usage, probab ly the result of someone cleaning out his desk, though the fact that each is a Type IV with complete margins is miraculous.
