1851-52, 3¢ brownish carmine (11), large margins to touched at B., grid cancel, on 1852 folded letter to Nova Scotia, ms. instructions at lower left indicate sender wished to send this from Boston by Cunard packet, the 3c being correct, with 5d due at Hali fax for packet postage, instead it went overland with the 3c ignored, cover struck with "Portland Me. 10 Aug. 3" unpaid c.d.s. at right, blue "6d" (due) in circle, contents with illustrated letterhead of the Elm House, ms. "Pr. Royal M Steamer Via Boston" in corner; reinforced internally at folds, an interesting usage with Very Fine appearance. Estimate 200 - 300
