1852, 3¢ dull red (11), horizontal pair, margins to cutting at TR, tied by strikes of "Beloit Wis. Dec. 20" c.d.s. on 1852 cover to Montreal, post office held cover for two days, postmarked it on the 22nd and rated it unpaid with "10" in circle hs at righ t, the U.S. exchange office determined this was overweight and added an additional 10c which was totaled up to 20c, bold red "U. States" in ribbon style arc, ms. "1/-" at left, red Montreal c.d.s. on back, Very Fine, outstanding short paid cross-border usage. Illustrated in Simpson/Alexander, p. 313.
