1854-55, 3¢ rose red (11), horizontal blocks of six and eight, margins to slightly in, tied together by black grids on Nov. 1855 folded cover to France paying a double 21c rate by British mail via American packet, red New Orleans and black Calais postmarks. tie l eft block with red "New York Am. Packet Nov. 14" exchange postmark. with inverted month ties right block, manuscript. "24" decimes due at B.; TR stamp with small sealed tear, bottom stamps with mild horizontal. crease, still a Very Fine usage, blocks of the 3c on transatlantic mail are rare and this may be the largest known multiple franking of the 3c on cover.
