"100" (Dutch cents) due mark on Oct. 1851 folded cover to Schiedam, Holland, red " New-York Oct. 25" c.d.s. and ms. "p. Atlantic", ms. "1/4" British due, red "Art-5/ U.S. Ikt." straightline handstamp, reverse with red British Schiedam datestamps and red "Ongeland/ over Rotterdam" script-style h.s. The sender attempted to pay only the 3c domestic postage- partial payment disregarded, sent via British open mail by American packet, Fine and rare, a highly unusual usage and a very early example from Plate One Late.
