1851-52, 3¢ brownish carmine (11), full margins to slightly in, tied by "Nashua N.H. Jul. 27" c.d.s. on pastel green folded letter to Constantinople, Turkey, sent via Boston's Mission House, and carried out of mails to the U.S. consul in Turkey, clear stri ke of the very rare straightline "CONSPLE. SEP 3" consular datestamp at center, manuscript. "Overland" at top left; cover with some edge splits at bottom and small gum stain opposite stamp, the latter with a small paper irregularity in BR corner, Fine and attractive, a rare usage in this period, particularly with the receiving straightline.
