Jul. 31" double circle, ms. "via Havana, By the U.S. Mail Steamer Marion to sail from New York August 3d" written across top, readdressed "Care of the Adjt. General" to Washington with clear "U.S. Ship 3 cts." in oval, Dec. 7, 1861 Washington postmark on reverse (torn on opening), Very Fine, excellent war-related ship cover.
