1861, 3¢ rose, well centered, canceled by target and "Hartford Ct. Jun. 23, 1862" double circle duplex on very rare Alfred Robinson Flag Patriotic, showing China Dragon Flag in colors at top left, with imprint, addressed to Maj. C.P. Nichols, a cashier on the Buffalo & Erie R.R., Very Fine. This unusual patriotic series, comprising 80 or more flags of the world, saw very little use in or outside of Hartford. Probably no more than 10-15 flags exist used, each one unique or nearly so; even unused examples are difficult to find. The "China" design was absent from both the Walcott and Bischel collection and may represent the only used example.
