1873, 10¢ brown (161), horiz. pair, used with single #158 and #179 on cloth-lined Dec. 1875 registered cover to France paying double the 9¢ rate, stamps tied by indistinct reddish brown foreign mail cancels, red New York c.d.s., blue French markings on face, wax seals on flap indicate New York City origin; cover with two small tears at top, 10¢ pair with pulled perf in right stamp, colorful and Fine usage.
