Confederacy, 1862, 2¢ bright yellow green (3a), vertical strip of five, ample to enormous margins except slightly in at TR and touching TR ornament of 2nd stamp and touched at foot of strip, gorgeous vivid color and superb impression, tied by three strikes of "Richmon d Va. Jul. 5" c.d.s. on reverse of homemade cover to Dover, N.C., paying the new 10c rate (increased from 5c on July 1st); strip with light crease at bottom from placement at cover's edge, still Very Fine, a remarkable and beautiful showpiece, the Bright Yellow Green being one the most elusive of General Issue color varieties, especially on cover; this strip is believed to be the largest known multiple, used or unused. Unpriced as a used single and unlisted as a multiple in both Scott and Dietz (cat. $13,500 for normal used strip).
