Confederacy, 1862, 5¢ blue (4), ample to large margins, deep shade and oval appearing solid, tied by greenish blue "Paid" handstamp, matching "Pattonsburgh Va. Oct. 24" c.d.s. with manuscript date on brown cover to Glenwood, 1864 docketing at left, the use of the Paid may have been indication of the balance paid in cash, Extremely Fine, rare late use of the 5¢ Hoyer & Ludwig.
