Sep. 5" balloon-style postmark on fresh cover to chaplain James P. Boyce at Greenville, 1864 docketing at left, Extremely Fine, rare townmark. Boyce was appointed a special commissioner in 1863 after he devised a plan for extinguishing the Confederate debt.
