Hopkins, Stephen (1707-1785), Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Governor of Rhode Island. 3 x 6¼ 1764 MsDS as Governor, no place, no date, orders payment of £18.8 for Providence Postmaster Samuel Chase "for postage of sundry letters" in August 1764, and £6.8 for postage to Oct. 20. Inlaid, cut from larger piece but intact.
