Cody, William F. "Buffalo Bill" (1846-1917), Western scout, furnished buffalo meat for Union Pacific construction crews, actor, Wild West showman and impresario. 6½ x 4½ photograph wearing his trademark fringed buckskins and hat, inscribed and signed "W. F. Cody / "Buffalo Bill" / June 21st 1907/ to James Brown Thornton". Matted with 2pp. (separate leaves) Nov. 1, 1960 interesting TLS by, and on letterhead of, antiquarian firearms dealer F. Theodore Dexter recounting meeting Cody and his horse and talking of Cody's personality. Dexter letter is waterstained but legible, however his signature is mostly penciled in. Handsomely matted and framed to 20 x 34 overall.
