Lot 1144
Kalakaua (1836-1891), Last King of Hawaii, ruled 1874-1891, reformist ideas led to revolution and a new constitution, in 1887, which restricted his powers. Signed 6½ x 4¼ cabinet photograph by J. Williams & Co., Honolulu studio showing the King in military uniform holding his sword, signed "Kalakaua" at lower right. Minor flaws but quite attractive.
