Nicholas II (1868-1918), Tsar of Russia 1894-1917, directed construction of Trans-Siberian railroad, fought disastrous war with Japan, joined Allies in World War I, abdicated after 1917 Russian Revolution, murdered with his family. 8 x 5 pencilled ALS in Russian signed with his initials, St. Petersburg, 1895, orders a courier to leave for Darlashtad on Tuesday, Feb. 7 and to present himself in Anichkov at 10 a.m. the same day. Matted with French postcard photograph and framed to 11¾ x 13¼ overall.
