1923, 2¢ carmine coil, type I (599), joint line strip of 5 plus five singles and a single 2¢ #583, tied by Brooklyn, N.Y. "B" ovals on damaged-in-handling legal size registered cover to N.Y., N.Y., Jan 13, 1927 light magenta handstamp "Received in Bad Condition/New York City Hall Station", manuscript markings indicate opening by an A. Cooper at the Dept. of Public Works when the addressee was unknown at the Bureau of Highways to which the cover was addressed, blue crayon "Try Brooklyn", sealed with white paper tape and two P.O. seals, handstamped Remailed after delivery/Not in Registered Mail, Fine and unique cover, postage is 4¢ for 2x letter rate plus 15¢ for registration and 3¢ for return receipt.
