Canada, 1872, 3¢ dull red (37), tied by oval grid on small ladies envelope to Calais, Maine, undated "W.O. (Way Office) NASHWAAK/PAID" broken circle postmark and straight line "INSUFFICIENTLY/PREPAID" handstamp with manuscript "10" in blue, backstamped Frederickton, N.B., July 4, 1871, and W.O. Saint Stephen, N.B., July 5; small nick at lower right, otherwise Very Fine. Underpaid by 3¢ the letter was charged the unpaid rate of 10¢ with no credit allowed for the 3¢ stamp.
