Canada, 1872, 3¢ dull red (37), vertical pair tied with 2¢ #36 by Toronto duplexes, Nov 19, 1877, on cover to Ireland, manuscript instruction "per Cunard Steamer", backstamped Ballymote, Ireland Dec 3; small corner crease at UR affects one 3¢ F-VF. As of October 1, 1875 the 8¢ Cunard rate via New York was no longer in effect. This letter could have been sent at the 5¢ "preferred rate" which lasted until August of 1878 when Canada joined the U.P.U.
