1847, 5¢ red brown (1), bottom right corner margin single with ample to huge margins, clear impression and attractive shade, pen cancelled and tied by magenta "Hartford Ct. Jul. 17" c.d.s. on small envelope to Plattsburgh, N.Y. with matching Pointing Hand "Paid" handstamp and large "5"; frugality or a shortage of paper compelled the sender to continue writing on the inside of the cover including all four flaps - this bleeds through somewhat but is not unattractive, Very Fine usage.
