1847, 5¢ dark brown (1a), ample to large margins to touched at lower left, tied by bold pen cancel on 1849 folded letter with partially struck "Canajoharie N.Y. 27 Aug." c.d.s. in black, to Harrison Square, Mass., Fine and very scarce.

Interesting lengthy enclosure is headed "Sharon Springs" includes some comments on letters going astray: "Sharon post offices are as numerous as blackberries in cholera time, and unless Canajoharie is written upon the backs of your favors, they will be sure to find a last resting place in the General post office." etc.
