1847, 5¢ dark brown (1a), bottom sheet margin singles, large margins to touching other sides, clear to touching at other sides, deep rich color and early impression, tied by red "Paid" struck in criss-cross fashion on squarish folded cover to New York with twice struck "West Point N.Y. Feb 29 " Leap Year c.d.s., once in blue, once in red, addressed in bold blue ink with matching "Paid" in frame; a remarkable and Very Fine usage. Illustrated in color in Alexander and on p. 543.
