1847, 5¢ dark brown (1a), large margins to touched at left, cancelled by twice struck by grayish black "Paid" one tying, on 1848 folded letter to Plainfield with matching light "Woodstock Vt. Jan. 8" c.d.s. at left; stamp with small stain at bottom left, Fine.

As noted above, we feel this is a homemade black ink contaminated by some red.
