1847, 5¢ red brown (1var), ample even margins, late color and impression, tied by manuscript "X" on 1851 folded letter to Richmond with matching large "5" also Xed, clear blue "Danville Va. Apr. 8" c.d.s. in a coarse homemade blue at far left, Fine. Originally prepared as an unpaid stampless letter, the rate was crossed out when the stamp was put on.
