1847, 5¢ red brown (1), ample to large margins, pre-print paper crease at top, red grid, on 1851 folded letter to Bremen with matching straightline "STEAM" and "Cincinnati O. 5 cts Jan. 2" c.d.s., manuscript route instructions at top: "pr. first steamer via Liverpool & Ostende", manuscript due markings include English "¼" and German "40" (grote), contents in German and written from Louisville, stamp with creases prior to use, Very Fine appearance, rare combination of river steamboat and transatlantic use.
