1847, 5¢ red brown (1), two singles, ample margins except left stamp clear at top and bottom, deep shade, tied together by indistinct blue 10 cancels, on 1849 folded letter from Charleston, S.C. to Amsterdam, Holland, light strike of blue "Wilmington & Raleigh R.R. May 12" c.d.s., stamps paid the over-300 miles rate, manuscript "p. America at New York" written along top edge, manuscript "¼" (Br.) due marking and large manuscript "100" Dutch cents at center, red italic" Engeland/ over Roterdam" struck on reverse; cover with some separations at folds and bleed through of contents, still Very Fine usage and rare.
