ALS in German, 8" x 10½", 1½pp., Lambarene, Gabon, 1963 Oct 23. To American author and Schweitzer biographer, Norman Cousins, thanking him for the donation of a large part of the royalties from his book, The Words of Albert Schweitzer, and expounding on the evils of atomic weapons, his joyful reaction to the treaty of Moscow, and his opinion that "Kennedy was very brave. He knew, that in many circles in the U.S.A. people were not at all inclined to negotiate with the East." Signed "Yours devotedly, Albert Schweitzer". Schweitzer has also written his name as part of the letterhead. Accompanied by an English translation, Very Fine.
