Watt, James (1736-1819)., Scottish Engineer and Inventor, pioneer in development of the steam engine, namesake of the electrical power unit, the watt.

ALS, 1p, 4½" x 7", Glasgow, Oct 25 (no year), letter introducing French mathematician and physicist, Jean-Baptiste Biot (1774-1862) to an unknown colleague. Light overall cleaning not affecting signature, Very Good, Watt ALSs are quite scarce.

Biot traveled to Scotland in 1817 to monitor the geodetic operations of the English under Colonel Mudge. This could perhaps be a letter of introduction to Mudge.
