Expertization: 1993 P.S.E. Certificate.

Despite the more than 300 surviving 1847 covers from Missouri, all of them, with the exception of this cover, are postmarked St. Louis. Union received a supply of 300 5¢ stamps and 100 10¢ stamps. Even stampless examples from this period are quite rare.
