1847, 5¢ dark brown (1a), ample to large margins, tied by neat clear strike of blue Star with negative "5" and 5 Small Stars, on 1850 folded letter to Demopolis, Ala., matching "Paid" and "Huntsville Al. Mar. 25" c.d.s. and ms "Paid" at top; stamp with additional pen cancel that has been lightened, Extremely Fine, a magnificent usage.

Better known as a marking found on stampless covers, the sought after Huntsville Star is recorded on just five 1847 covers, two of which are from the Manning correspondence. This is the only single cancelled by the star.
