St. Louis, Mo., 1845, 5¢ black on greenish (11X1), type III, position 5, large to gigantic margins including generous sheet margins at left and bottom, tied by pen strokes and red "St. Louis Mo. Dec. 24" c.d.s. on 1845 folded letter to William G. Pettus, St. Charles, Mo., matching "Paid" handstamp and manuscript "Paid 5"; some wear along file fold, stamp with natural inclusion in margin at left, Very Fine, handsome and rare.
