St. Louis, Mo., 1845, 10¢ black on greenish (11X2), vertical pair, types I-II, position 2/4, huge sheet margins top & right, large elsewhere, handsome color, tied by single bold vertical pen stroke and bits of red ink from postmark, on double rate 1845 folded letter to Charnley & Whelen in Philadelphia, red "St. Louis Mo. Nov. 16" c.d.s. and matching bold "Paid" handstamp opposite "20" rate in pen, nearly invisible closed tear in selvage, clear of frame line of bottom stamp, still an Extremely Fine and magnificent pair.
