St. Louis, Mo., 1846, 5¢ black on bluish pelure (11X7), type III, position 5, ample to large margins except clear at top left and just in at bottom right, well tied by manuscript "5" on 1847 folded letter to the wife of William Pettus in St. Charles, twice struck red "St Louis Mo. Jan. 16" c.d.s. and matching "Paid", Very Fine for this frequently flawed stamp and rare.
