Bond, M.D. at Kohala, Hawaii, backstamped New York (Aug 10), San Francisco (Aug 15), Honolulu (Aug 28) and Kohala (Sept 5), fumigating slits at upper left and lower right, Fine and rare example of inbound disinfected mail.

Provenance: Honolulu Advertiser

Due to an outbreak of cholera, Honolulu was under quarantine from August 20 to October 23, 1895. Since this cover arrived during the quarantine it had to be disinfected before being sent on to Kohala.
