Fontanelle N.T./ July 28, manuscript postmark on pale yellow envelope to Washington, Ct., 3¢ brownish carmine (11), margins to touching at lower right, manuscript "X" cancel, bold "New-Haven Ct. Missent" circle handstamp struck below postmark, ink smear in handstamp, Very Fine, rare combination of markings. Of the sixteen recorded covers from this Mormon Trail town, this is the only known manuscript postmark.
