Jul. 11, clear c.d.s. on small lady's envelope to West Point Academy with 10¢ green type III (15), huge margins to cut in, neat pen cancel; cover with small sealed tear at top, fresh and Fine. The first American post office to be established on the west coast, Astoria opened on Mar. 9, 1847, and named for John Jacob Astor.
